Pharmacy closures are creating a growing healthcare access crisis across Wisconsin—and Milwaukee is among the communities most affected.
- Milwaukee ranks among the U.S. cities with the worst pharmacy desert disparities.
- In Milwaukee's majority-Black neighborhoods, nearly 60% are considered pharmacy deserts.
- Walgreens has closed 8 of its 28 Milwaukee stores in recent years, reducing access to medications and essential healthcare services.
- As pharmacy closures continue across Wisconsin, residents without reliable transportation face increasing barriers to accessing prescriptions and healthcare resources.
